Boil water advisory continues for Blawnox residents

Assistant Manager Mallori McDowell said people can get fresh drinking water at the municipal building at 376 Freeport Road. There are two water buffaloes on site, and residents should bring containers to fill.
The boil water advisory will last until there are two successful water quality tests, following repairs made over the past two days by the borough’s public works crew and Fox Chapel Water Authority.
The Blawnox public water system had a loss of pressure late Sunday after a 12-inch line burst at the corner of Cable Avenue and Maple Way, McDowell said. Pressure loss is a symptom of conditions that could allow contamination.
Boiled water can be used for washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation.
Residents will be notified when it is safe to drink water from the tap.
