Fox Chapel Area High School is closed today for a bomb threat, despite a search of the building that turned up clear.

School officials late last night were notified on the state-mandated Safe2Say Something tip line about a threat to the high school, Bonnie Berzonski, district coordinator of communications, said.

“The threat was very ambiguous and non-specific,” she said. “It was related to rumors circulating about a bomb threat.”

O’Hara police responded and conducted a search of the high school along Field Club Road, which turned up nothing.

Officers were assisted by two bomb-sniffing dogs.

Berzonski said it was out of an abundance of caution that officials decided to cancel school for the day.

She also said there will be extra security at the high school when students return on Friday.

The closure effects the high school only.

School will proceed on regular schedule for the district’s other five campuses.
