University Women group offers talk on brain injuries
The Fox Chapel Area branch of the American Association of University Women will host a presentation Oct. 8 on recovering from brain injuries.
“Weaving a New Life After Brain Injury” will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church on the corner of Field Club and Fox Chapel roads. Guest speaker is Deborah Brandon, associate professor of math at Carnegie Mellon University.
Brandon will discuss her journey of recovery, her passion for weaving and how she overcame the challenge of a lifetime.
Brandon graduated from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. She went on to earn her doctorate degree and continues to weave and travel, especially to developing countries where she enjoys exploring traditional textile techniques.
Craft show planned in Indiana township
There will be a craft show to benefit the DARE program in Indiana Township.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 in the community center, 3710 Saxonburg Blvd.
There will be vendors, bake sales and auctions.
Women’s Business Network open house
The Allegheny Valley Chapter of Women’s Business Network will host an open house at Panera Bread at The Waterworks.
It will take place at 8 a.m. Oct. 1.

Addiction ministry to co-host event
The Addiction Recovery Ministry in Sharpsburg will join with Light of Life Mission to present “Come Together to Fight Addiction.”
An evening with dinner and a Beatles tribute band will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Oakland.
