Ramp closure on Highland Park Bridge could mean delays

Motorists who use the Highland Park Bridge can once again expect delays this weekend.
It’s the third consecutive week that PennDOT has scheduled repairs, with officials saying a ramp will be closed Oct. 25-28
There will be a single-lane restriction southbound at the on-ramps from Freeport Road and the ramp from eastbound Freeport Road to the southbound Highland Park Bridge will be closed to traffic.
Work is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Friday and continue through 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.
Crews from Michael Facchiano Construction will conduct the work.
A suggested detour is to continue on Freeport Road, past the ramp, and turn left onto Fox Chapel Road, then turn left again onto southbound Route 28 toward Pittsburgh and back to the bridge.
Lanes are expected to reopen in time for rush hour. If work wraps up early, the ramps will reopen sooner.
