Three newcomers won election to the Fox Chapel Area School Board on Nov. 5, ousting the second incumbent this year, according to unofficial results by the Allegheny County Elections Bureau.

Poll results saw voters in Region 2 – which covers Indiana Township and Districts 2, 4 and 5 of Fox Chapel – electing Ron Frank and Vanessa Lynch for two available positions over longtime board member Terry Wirginis.

Frank was the clear leader with 2,058 votes, followed by 1,436 tallies for Lynch and 1,204 for Wirginis.

Wirginis said he was proud that the work done by the board (with the administration, teachers, students and community) has placed the district among the top of those across the state.

“I’ve had the honor and pleasure of serving on our school board for the past eight years, serving the past four years as president,” he said. “It’s the best our district has ever been. I wish our current and our new board members the very best in the quest to make our district even better.”

The results will be certified in the coming weeks.

Earlier this spring, incumbent Eric Schmidt lost his bid for re-election in Region 1. On Tuesday, newcomer Eric Hamilton and incumbent Lisa Rutkowski ran unopposed.

Likewise, in Region 3, newcomer Marybeth Dadd ran uncontested, bringing the total number of newcomers elected to four.

In a post on Facebook, Frank thanked voters and said he appreciated their faith.

“It’s time to take a short break, begin work selecting a new superintendent and begin pulling new and current board members together with common goals,” he wrote.
