UPMC St. Margaret will host programs to help with diabetes and addiction recovery this month.

Through its Pathways to Recovery series, a free session will provide resources for people in addiction recovery.

No registration is needed.

It is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the hospital’s conference center along Freeport Road, near Aspinwall.

The program will include personal recovery testimonials, naloxone kits, a demonstration of the opioid reversal spray and local resources.

UPMC partnered with the Allegheny County Health Department and Mon Yough Community Services for the presentation.

Next week, on Sept. 19, the UPMC Centers for Diabetes Education and Support will host “Traveling Smart with Diabetes.”

Endocrinologist Hugo Lin will be on hand to talk about tips to make traveling with diabetes safe.

Specifically, Lin will discuss what to do if glucose rises or drops, how to choose comfortable shoes and safely storing medication.

It will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.

Light refreshments will be provided and parking will be validated.

Registration is required by calling 412-784-5162.
